Live In Care

Live-in caregiving is a wonderful option for individuals who require around-the-clock support but are able to sleep at least five uninterrupted hours each night. In this model, a caregiver lives in the home for 3–4 days at a time, providing continuous care, companionship, and peace of mind without the frequent staff changes that come with shift-based care. Compared to 24/7 care—where multiple caregivers rotate in and out each day—live-in care can often be a more cost-effective solution while still ensuring your loved one receives the highest level of attention and safety. At The Home Care People, we recognize that every family’s needs and financial situation are unique, which is why we offer flexible program options designed to manage costs while tailoring services to the specific care your loved one deserves.

24/7 Care

In the home care industry, 24/7 care means that clients have continuous support around the clock provided by caregivers working in shifts. Typically, two caregivers cover each day—one for a 12-hour daytime shift and another for a 12-hour overnight shift. At the end of their shifts, caregivers go home, and new staff rotate in. Compared to live-in care, where one caregiver stays in the home for 3–4 days before rotating with another (usually a total of two caregivers).

24/7 care often involves 5–6 caregivers rotating throughout the week. A key benefit of 24/7 care is that caregivers remain awake and alert for their entire shift, ensuring that if a client needs assistance in the middle of the night—whether for mobility, personal care, medication reminders, or safety concerns—help is available immediately without disturbing a resting caregiver. This structure provides peace of mind for families and consistent, reliable support for clients who need high levels of attentive care.

Hourly Care - 2 Hours to 12 Hours

Most clients and families don’t always need around-the-clock care or live-in support. Instead, many need help anywhere from just a couple of hours a day to 12 hours, depending on their unique situation. That might mean assisting someone in the morning to start their day with comfort and dignity, or staying overnight so there’s someone there when they wake up in the middle of the night. For families who live together, we can step in during the workday to ensure their loved one stays safe, supported, and never feels alone.

We pride ourselves on being flexible and compassionate, working with your schedule so everyone feels cared for and at ease. No matter the circumstances, we are here to help when you need us most—meeting you and your loved one at life’s most vulnerable points with understanding, consistency, and kindness.

How we can help when you need us most:

  • Morning assistance to help clients get up, dressed, and start their day

  • Evening or overnight support so clients are never alone in the night

  • Daytime companionship to prevent loneliness and promote safety

  • Flexible scheduling from 2 hours a day to 12 hours or more

  • Respite for family members while they work or take needed breaks

  • With flexible care, start with 4 hours per shift and increase as you need more care.
